About Us
Over 60 years ago, back in 1946, Willie Terrazas Sr., and his brother-in-law,
Leo Collins, said What El Paso needs is a good Mexican Restaurant!” They
had the business end covered, but they didn’t know their way around
the kitchen. They brought in Leo’s stepfather, Felipe Rosales, and
Willie’s mother, Panchita Terrazas, and together they developed
the recipes that are still used today. The baked cheese enchiladas, delicious
combination plates and dessert sopapilla recipes were introduced on to
the menu as created by Willie Sr. and Leo. From the very beginning, the
entire family was involved in providing quality services and food for
the borderland.
Willie Trazzas Jr., owner of La Terraza and Leo’s on Remcon, worked
at the family restaurant for as long as he can remember. He started out
as a buss boy and worked his way through every position the restaurant
had to offer him. He eventually bought his first restaurant on Mills,
Downtown, and later became owner of the Montana location, as well as the
Leo’s previously on Mesa and Crossroads. “It is an honor to
uphold the Leo’s name.” said Willie proudly. “I give
a lot of credit to our customers, our incredible staff, and my wife, Rose
Marie Terrazas.”
Willie has dedicated a special room, at Leo’s on Remcon, to honor
his family. As he looks over the old black and white photos of his family
and the original Leo’s grocery store, a look of contentment falls
over his face. Here’s to 60 more years. |
